WapiWapi crew

Coming from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, Wapi Wapi has formed a unique contemporary dance crew with each member bringing a differ- ent style of dancing to the table. Promoting peace at each event, the dynamics of the group in combination with their hard work.

 

 

In 2011 WapiWapi competed in the Malta Guinness Street Dance Pan African Championships and they came to an epic grand finale. WapiWapi dance crew being crowned the 2011 Malta Guinness Street Dance Pan African Champions.

Exhibiting the very best in style and swagger to a panel of esteemed judges including, Dwayne Nosworthy of the United Dance Organization in the UK, Prudanse Maidou of Central African Republic and Mike Ross from East Africa, the Wapi-Wapi dance crew from Kenya snatched the trophy and celebrated in true Malta Guinness style by putting on a show stopping winning performance.

 

The Wapi Wapi dance crew did not only earn themselves the prestigious title of MGSD Pan African Champion, but also a mouthwatering prize of $36,000 which was presented to them by Mr Ekwunife Okoli, Managing Director of Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited.

 

In July 2013 WapiWapi competed in the Orange Beat ya Street. WapiWapi dance crew are the Nairobi regional winners of the Orange Beat Ya Street competition. In a colourful event at the Carnivore, Wapi Wapi beat seven other dance crews to qualify for the grand finale scheduled for September 28 in Nairobi.
